From the islands for your dinner desk, Loco Moco is Hawaiian consolation food made with rice and a burger smothered with rich gravy and a runny yolk. Loco Moco is meant to be simple meals with simple ingredients. It begins with a mattress of sticky white rice and is crowned with, a hamburger patty, brown gravy and a sunny-side-up egg.
Loco Moco became created in the Nineteen Forties, when a few boys dining on the Lincoln Grill in Hilo, Hawaii, requested the waitress to serve them a dish they could come up with the money for. They threw out the idea of rice, pork and gravy. And the rest is history.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups white rice uncooked
- 2 cups water
- 1 lb Certified Angus Beef® brand ground beef
- 2 tsp kosher salt
- 2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 2 green onions sliced
COMMANDS
- Rinse the rice beneath cool water. place the rinsed rice and a pair of cups water in a rice cooker and prepare dinner.
- shape the ground pork into four patties. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- warmth olive oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-excessive heat. add the patties. Sear for 4 minutes. turn. cook for four greater mins. dispose of the patties and set aside.
- lessen heat to medium-low. add the flour to the skillet. cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring continuously.

- In some other skillet, warmth 2 teaspoons olive oil over medium-high excessive. Crack the eggs into the pan and fry for three-4 mins, until the whites are cooked via. The yolks need to continue to be loose.
- location a huge circle cookie cutter on a plate. Fill with a spoonful of rice. do away with the cookie cutter.
